How does the TDM Tournament work?
The tournament will start with a round robin stage that will be split into groups depending on the number of signed up teams. Matches will be played in a BO3 format with a pool of 7 maps. When the round robin stage is finished, the top 8 teams across the groups advance into a double elimination playoff bracket.
The playoff bracket stage continues in BO3 fashion, except the higher seeded team has map nomination priority (including loser bracket matchups). The grand finals are played with a single best of 7 match with the team coming from the upper bracket starting with a 1 map advantage.
For all matches, we will be using an alternating pick/eliminate system. The system is as follows:
- Coinflip to determine which team is Team A
- Team A nominates two maps from the pool
- Team B selects one of the nominated maps to return to the pool.
- The map not returned to the pool is the first map selected.
- Team B nominates two maps from the pool
- Team A selects one of the nominated maps to return to the pool.
- The map not returned to the pool is the second map selected.
- Team A nominates two maps from the pool
- Team B selects one of the nominated maps to return to the pool.
- The map not returned to the pool is the third map selected.
Tiebreakers are determined in the following order: rounds won -> total frags -> frag differential -> cointoss
